  • Boulder Legacy Boy’s Soccer 2021

Legacy defeated highly ranked Boulder 2-1 Thursday afternoon in boy’s soccer. The game was close throughout and Boulder appeared to have tied the game with 1:21 left but the goal was waived off after it was determined Boulder was offsides on the play. I’m sure both teams will go deep into the playoffs in a few weeks.

    Broomfield Boulder basketball 21

It was great to see high school basketball being played again in Colorado. I covered the game between Broomfield and Boulder Friday night. I was treated to a great game as Boulder eked out a victory, 51-50, on a free throw to break the tie with 8 seconds left. I’m sure the players don’t find it easy to play in masks and without fans, but the game was still enjoyable nonetheless. I can’t wait to cover more basketball games this winter.

  • Boulder Spring Snow

Boulder sets its all-time record for snowfall in a winter with this past storm. The spring snow storm dumped 15 inches on the city bringing the annual total to 151 inches. April has been a very snowy month so far. It was a beautiful morning to be outside despite the 5 degree temperatures. I am not a big fan of spring snow, but I know the snow is great for the plants. Can’t wait for the wildflowers to show up in June!

  • Colorado Men’s Basketball vs Arizona

I photographed Colorado’s men’s basketball games vs Arizona State and Arizona this past weekend.  Colorado beat #4 ASU and #14 Arizona in consecutive games.  It was the first time in programs history the the Buffs had defeated teams ranked in the top 15 in consecutive games.  Colorado beat ASU Thursday 90-81 and the confidence from the win carried over to Saturday’s game against Arizona.  The Buffs jumped out to a big lead and led by 16 at the half on 64% shooting.  The Buffs called off and had lots of turnovers in the second half as Arizona’s prize recruit Deandre Ayton scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half.  But Colorado hung on for the win 80-77.

  • CU vs USC Football 2017

USC defeated Colorado in football 38-24 at Folsom Field.  USC quarterback Sam Darnold looks like the real deal as he threw for over 300 yards and ran for a long touchdown.

  • Boulder Legacy Boy’s Soccer

The boy’s soccer game between Boulder and Legacy high schools was a classic tonight.  Legacy defeated the reigning 5A state champs, 2-1.  The game was filled with some great action and one of the most intense goal celebrations I’ve seen by the Legacy players.  Let’s hope these two teams meet again in the playoffs.

  • Colorado Washington State Football 2016

Colorado football is back in the national spotlight for the first time in over a decade after defeating the Cougars 38-24 Saturday at Folsom Field.  I photographed the Colorado Washington State football game and it featured a number of big plays and a fair number of near misses  There had to be at least a half dozen overthrows or dropped passes on long throws.  But all in all it was an exciting game to cover.

  • Frozen Frost

We had a nice foggy morning yesterday which quickly cleared.  Frost was frozen to everything!  I quickly hopped in a car and headed to Boulder to do some photography.  I stopped at Sawmill Ponds on the eastern side of Boulder.  The area has a number of trails around small ponds.  Of particular interest was the abundance of dead grass and weeds with seed pods still on.  This made for great closeup photography.  Frozen frost provides some amazing subjects. The frost crystals were huge. Of course I had to work fast.  The conditions only lasted a couple of hours before the sun started to melt everything.
