I photographed the 2018 CHSAA softball championships once again this year. This is the 5th consecutive year I have covered this event. This year’s games weren’t quote as dramatic as last year’s finals, but the games were still filled with exciting moments. Congratulations to Legend which repeated as 5A champs by defeating Cherokee Trail 8-4. Holy Family took home the 4A crown by defeating Mountain View 10-3.

2017 CHSAA 5A Softball Playoffs
I covered the CHSAA 5A softball playoffs for the fifth straight year. No shortage of high drama and emotion this year. Congratulations to Legend high school for winning the 2017 5A championship, the Titans’ first title of any kind. They defeated Fossil Ridge 8-3 in the final game to take home the trophy. The semifinals were particularly crazy as Fossil Ridge defeated #1 seed Eaglecrest, 20-16 and Legend took down perennial favorite Legacy, 10-6.

2017 Colorado High School Hockey Finals
I photographed for the first time the Colorado High School Hockey Finals at Magness Arena at the University of Denver. Monarch played in its fifth straight final and won its first championship, 2-1 over Regis Jesuit. The game was very exciting and game down to the last shot. I hadn’t shot hockey in a decade so it was a lot of fun to get back to the sport. I was amazed at how good some of the players were. It was cool to see a team win its first championship as well.

2015 CHSAA Softball Championships
I photographed the 2015 CHSAA softball championships this past weekend. The weather cooperated by raining on Friday when I couldn’t go, so I got to be one of the photographers after all. Our local high school, Mountain Range, took the 5A crown while Valor Christina my alma mater Wheat Ridge in 4A and Strasburg outlasted Eaton in 3A. As usual, the girls provided lots of dramatic moments. None more so, however, than Pomona’s 13-11 victory over Fossil Ridge in 8 innings, as Fossil left the bases loaded in the bottom half of the inning. Enjoy the photos.
