  • Monarch Riverdale Ridge 4A Football

I photographed the 4A football playoff game between Riverdale Ridge and Monarch last weekend. I witnessed my first high school overtime game. The rules are related to college rule but the ball is placed at the opponent’s 10-yard line. Monarch stopped Riverdale at 1 to seal the victory, 14-7. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen as much action in such a low-scoring game. Monarch’s defense line had a field day recording 4 sacks and 2 strip fumbles in the second half to make like miserable for the Riverdale quarterbacks.

Photographs from today’s NFL game between the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. Bo Nix continued to make improvements during his rookie season and the Broncos rolled 38-6.

  • Frederick Northfield Football

Frederick took on Northfield in the first round the CHSAA 4A football playoffs last night in what will be forever known as the snow bowl. As a snowstorm blew through dropping heavy wet snow, Frederick rolled at home behind a strong running game to take down Northfield 32-14 to advance to the second round.

    CU CSU Football 2024

The last Rocky Mountain Showdown for five years between Colorado and Colorado State occurred last Saturday. Colorado shook off a lethargic first half and took advantage of two second half interceptions to surge to a 28-9 victory. Travis Hunter once again proved he is a unique player in college football, grabbing two touchdown catches and an interception. The interception was particularly athletic as he broke on the ball before the receiver and snatched it from his grasp. Colorado takes on Baylor this weekend at home.

  • CU Oregon Football 2022

    CU Oregon Football 2022

Colorado went up against eighth ranked Oregon in football at Folsom Field Saturday and found out why they haven’t lost since a week-one defeat to Georgia. Oregon pulled out the trick plays in building a quick 21-0 lead. A defensive tackle and QB Bo Nix caught touchdown passes. A linebacker ran the ball in from the 1. CU played tough, frequently moving the ball, but made too many mistakes. Two second half interceptions by former Buff Christian Gonzales sealed the victory for Oregon.

  • CU Minnesota Football

    CU Minnesota Football

After nearly beating the #5 team in the country, Texas A&M last week, Colorado’s football team put up no fight this week in getting shut out by Minnesota 30-0. The Buffaloes offense looked as bad as it has in a decade and freshman quarterback Brendon Lewis looks lost on the field.

  • 2019 4A/5A High School Football Finals

It was a beautiful Saturday in December for the Colorado 4A/5A High School Football Finals. In 4A, Pine Creek easily handled Broomfield 34-3 while Cherry Creek dominated upset-minded Columbine 35-10. Dave Logan won his second state as the head coach of Cherry Creek and now has seven titles to his credit.

  • Colorado USC Football 2019

Colorado gave USC everything they wanted Friday night at Folsom Field but it wasn’t enough as USC used a late touchdown to rally 35-31. CU had several explosive plays on the night including a long touchdown catch by Laviska Shenault. The Buffaloes led most of the night in a seesaw battle, but USC scored with under two minutes left to take the lead back for good. Penalties and mistakes by CU did them in once again. They had a chance to seal the game on USC’s critical last drive but couldn’t come up with an interception on a deflected pass nor recover a fumble.

  • Colorado Arizona State Football 2018

I photographed the Colorado Arizona State football game in Boulder yesterday.  The Buffs defeated the Sun Devils 28-21 to improve to 5-0 for the first time since the 1990s.  Laviska Shenault had a huge day, producing 3 touchdowns both running and receiving. The game featured a number of big plays on both sides. But Colorado got the stops they needed when it counted in the fourth quarter.
