    CU-CSU Football 2023

The Rocky Mountain Showdown between Colorado and Colorado State in football is taking a hiatus for a few yers after this year. After last night’s game, the powers at be may want to rethink that one. Colorado rallied from down 28-17 in the fourth quarter to stun Colorado State in double overtime 43-35. Shedeur Sanders once again proved to be the hero driving his team 98 yards with less than two minutes left to tie the score at 28 with 35 seconds remaining at the end of regulation. The tying score came on a 40 yard toss to Jimmy Horn. Sanders then threw two more touchdown passes in the overtime sessions to seal the win for Colorado.

    CU Nebraska Football 2023

Colorado proved Saturday that its week one win over TCU was no fluke as it easily beat Nebraska 36-14 in its home opener. Shedeur Sanders proved why he is a legitimate Heisman candidate. He shrugged off a slow start to throw for 393 yards and 2 TDs. His most impressive play did not count. e scrambled for several seconds before finding an open receiver for a two point conversion. Unfortunately, the play was overturned on replay as the ball just hit the ground. But no matter. The Buffs had the game in hand.

Colorado defeated the Washington Huskies at Folsom Field in Boulder 20-17.

  • Colorado Utah Football 2020

I photographed the NCAA football game between Colorado and Utah today. I had to shoot from the stands due to COVID-19 restrictions and that was certainly a new experience. It gave a whole new perspective and it made following the action somewhat easier since I go all along the yard lines. I missed out on the shots from behind the end zone but I was still able to capture some cool shots. I have to admit it was odd having no fans, students, cheerleaders, or marching bands.

Unfortunately, CU lost the game 38-21 after jumping out to a 21-10 lead at the start of the second half. Utah is the Buffaloes’ kryptonite I guess now having lost 4 straight to the Utes.

  • Colorado Nebraska Football 2019

Nebraska and 30,000 of its faithful traveled to Boulder to take on Colorado in NCAA football yesterday. 30,125 people went home unhappy. In what will become a game of legend, CU stormed back in the second half to win in OT, 34-31.

Trailing 17-0 at halftime after a lackluster performance, Colorado made the necessary adjustments and shut down the Cornhuskers offense for much of the second half. The turning point came on a 96-yard flea flicker. The trick play fooled the Nebraska defense and QB Stephen Montez threw a perfect strike to pull the Buffs within 3, 17-14. He also hit Tony Brown for a 26 yard touchdown with :46 left to tie the score at 31. On the day, Montez threw for 375 yards.

That set the stage for the improbable finish. The Buffs got the ball first in overtime and settled for a field goal. Nebraska then got the ball but QB Aaron Martinez was sacked on third down, setting up a game-tying 49 yard field goal attempt. The kick never had a chance and missed badly to the right, sending the CU faithful rushing onto the field to celebrate.

  • Colorado Washington State Football 2018

Colorado lost its fifth straight football game Saturday, going down 31-7 to Washington State. The Cougars dominated the clock with a short passing game and rolled off 31 unanswered points after CUJ took a 7-0 lead on a Travon McMillan three-yard touchdown run. Gardner Minshew, the mustachioed QB, led Washington State with 300+ yards passing. The Cougars methodical attack eventual wore down the Buffs defense in the second half. CU plays Utah next Saturday at Folsom Field in Boulder.
