    Congratulations to Denver University for defeating Western Michigan 6-2 to advance other the Frozen Four. DU scored four goals in the first period to take a commanding lead.

    The last Rocky Mountain Showdown for five years between Colorado and Colorado State occurred last Saturday. Colorado shook off a lethargic first half and took advantage of two second half interceptions to surge to a 28-9 victory. Travis Hunter once again proved he is a unique player in college football, grabbing two touchdown catches and an interception. The interception was particularly athletic as he broke on the ball before the receiver and snatched it from his grasp. Colorado takes on Baylor this weekend at home.

    The Colorado men’s basketball team continued its torrid offensive pace Friday night at home against Northern Colorado. A week after putting 90 points on last year’s finalist Miami, the Buffs put another 90 spot on the board, easily rolling past the Bears, 90-68. Even more impressive was the fact that the Buffs did it without sharp shooting forward Cody Williams who sat out his second straight game with a wrist injury. KJ Simpson went off for 21 while center Eddie Lampkin chipped in a double double of 10-10, including two monster dunks in the second half.

    Colorado went up against eighth ranked Oregon in football at Folsom Field Saturday and found out why they haven’t lost since a week-one defeat to Georgia. Oregon pulled out the trick plays in building a quick 21-0 lead. A defensive tackle and QB Bo Nix caught touchdown passes. A linebacker ran the ball in from the 1. CU played tough, frequently moving the ball, but made too many mistakes. Two second half interceptions by former Buff Christian Gonzales sealed the victory for Oregon.

    Colorado came close to losing to an inferior opponent at home last night. Eastern Washington came into town with a 4-4 record. But a big three-point play down the stretch proved to the the difference and CU fans exhaled as the Eagles missed a shot at the buzzer that would have tied it. CU hung on to win 60-57 to improve to 7-3 on the year. The game showcased Colorado’s inconsistency. They fell fell behind 6-0 only to score the next 14 points. They took a big lead into half only to watch the Eagles whittle it back down to a point at 47-46 mid-way through the second half. Cold shooting and poor perimeter defense at the three point line once again plagued the Buffaloes. But in the end they asserted their size down low and pulled out a much needed victory.

    After nearly beating the #5 team in the country, Texas A&M last week, Colorado’s football team put up no fight this week in getting shut out by Minnesota 30-0. The Buffaloes offense looked as bad as it has in a decade and freshman quarterback Brendon Lewis looks lost on the field.

  • Colorado Stanford Men’s Basketball 2020

    Colorado earned one of its most impressive victories last night against Stanford. It started off slowly against the Cardinal, shooting just over 20% in the first half and went into the break trailing 33-22. The Buffs poured it on in the second half scoring 59 points and quickly erased a 17-point deficit. CU was aided by a scary collision early in the half when forward Evan Battey collided with Stanford’s Oscar da Silva. Battey inadvertently elbowed da Silva in the head and he had to be helped from the court after laying motionless on the baseline for several minutes. Visibly shaken, Battey joined all the players and coaches from both teams in a prayer circle at center court. Already short-handed, Stanford never recovered and the Buffs rolled to victory, 81-74.

  • Colorado vs Oregon State Basketball 2020

    Colorado looked to improve its Pac-12 record after an impressive win Thursday against #4 Oregon. Unfortunately for the Buffs, it couldn’t handle the pressure down the stretch and fell to the Beavers, 76-68. A switch to a 1-3-1 zone in the final five minutes by the Beavers proved to be the Buffs’ downfall. Colorado scored only 2 points in the time frame and watched helplessly as their 10 point lead evaporated. Colorado will look to get back on the winning track against Utah next Sunday.

  • CU vs Northern Iowa NCAA Men’s Basketball

    Northern Iowa pulled off the upset of Colorado in NCAA Men’s Basketball Tuesday night at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, CO defeating CU 79-76. The Panthers shot the ball well from 3-point range and scored the last six points of the contest to ice the game. A.J. Green hit a three pointer to tie the game with a minute left for Northern Iowa and Colorado turned it over with a chance to take the lead back.

  • Colorado USC Football 2019

    Colorado gave USC everything they wanted Friday night at Folsom Field but it wasn’t enough as USC used a late touchdown to rally 35-31. CU had several explosive plays on the night including a long touchdown catch by Laviska Shenault. The Buffaloes led most of the night in a seesaw battle, but USC scored with under two minutes left to take the lead back for good. Penalties and mistakes by CU did them in once again. They had a chance to seal the game on USC’s critical last drive but couldn’t come up with an interception on a deflected pass nor recover a fumble.
