  • Colorado Men’s Basketball vs Arizona

I photographed Colorado’s men’s basketball games vs Arizona State and Arizona this past weekend.  Colorado beat #4 ASU and #14 Arizona in consecutive games.  It was the first time in programs history the the Buffs had defeated teams ranked in the top 15 in consecutive games.  Colorado beat ASU Thursday 90-81 and the confidence from the win carried over to Saturday’s game against Arizona.  The Buffs jumped out to a big lead and led by 16 at the half on 64% shooting.  The Buffs called off and had lots of turnovers in the second half as Arizona’s prize recruit Deandre Ayton scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half.  But Colorado hung on for the win 80-77.

  • 2017 4A and 5A Colorado High School Football Finals

I photographed the 2017 4A and 5A high school football finals at Mile High Stadium on Saturday.  Pomona defeated Eaglecrest 56-49 in the highest scoring 5A final in state history and Pueblo South won its first championship, defeating Pine Creek 25-14.

  • 2017 3A Football Semifinal

Longmont took on Erie in one of the 3A high school  football semifinals Saturday.  The Erie Tigers rolled behind a strong ground game and stingy defense, 31-14.

  • DU @ CU Men’s Basketball 2017

DU lost to CU at the Coors Events Center last night, 89-62.  It was tough homecoming for DU head coach, Rodney Billups, who was an assistant at CU for six years before taking the head job at DU.

  • CU vs USC Football 2017

USC defeated Colorado in football 38-24 at Folsom Field.  USC quarterback Sam Darnold looks like the real deal as he threw for over 300 yards and ran for a long touchdown.

  • 2017 CHSAA 5A Softball Playoffs

I covered the CHSAA 5A softball playoffs for the fifth straight year.  No shortage of high drama and emotion this year.  Congratulations to Legend high school for winning the 2017 5A championship, the Titans’ first title of any kind.  They defeated Fossil Ridge 8-3 in the final game to take home the trophy.  The semifinals were particularly crazy as Fossil Ridge defeated #1 seed Eaglecrest, 20-16 and Legend took down perennial favorite Legacy, 10-6.

  • 4A High School Boy’s Soccer

Due to the recent snow, I had a chance to cover a double header of 4A boy’s soccer at Erie High School yesterday.  Erie hosted Roosevelt and Niwot moved its home match against Silver Creek.  As playoff time nears, emotions were high and the play was very competitive.  Erie defeated Rosevelt 3-0 and Niwot defeated Silver Creek 2-1 in OT.

  • Granby Mountain Bike Race

I went up to Granby to photograph the mountain bike race sponsored by the Colorado High School Cycling League.  Teams from around the state competed.  It was a lot of fun.  The changing aspen provided a dramatic backdrop for the racers.  I photographed the JV race but freshman and varsity teams also competed.  I look forward to shooting more races in the future.

  • Boulder Legacy Boy’s Soccer

The boy’s soccer game between Boulder and Legacy high schools was a classic tonight.  Legacy defeated the reigning 5A state champs, 2-1.  The game was filled with some great action and one of the most intense goal celebrations I’ve seen by the Legacy players.  Let’s hope these two teams meet again in the playoffs.

  • Academy Middle Park Football

The Academy defeated Middle Park in 2A high school football at Adams County North Stadium Saturday, 47-27.  Middle Park grabbed the early lead, 19-6, but both its starting quarterback and second string QB suffered injuries in the first half and the game swung to The Academy from there.
